The readings

Six of them. Each answers a different question, and none of them require you to already speak astrology. If you are not sure where to start, start with the natal chart. It is the map the others are drawn on.

  • 01 Natal chart

The foundational reading, and the one to start with. Your natal chart is the sky at the moment you arrived, and reading it in the mindfulness technique means treating those placements as a description of your inner life rather than a set of instructions. It is the map every other reading here is drawn on top of.

    • What patterns have been running underneath my life this whole time
    • Where my instincts are reliable, and where they mislead me
    • What I keep mistaking for a personal failing when it is simply my shape
Often taken with North node, Solar return. Begin this reading
  • 02 Solar return

Cast for the moment the sun returns to the place it occupied at your birth, a solar return reads as the character of one year of your life. It is the reading for a birthday, and the one that tends to make people feel less ambushed by their own twelve months.

    • What this year is actually about
    • Which lesson is being offered again, and in what form
    • What is worth preparing for rather than reacting to
Often taken with Natal chart, Monthly transits. Begin this reading
  • 03 North node

The north node reading is about trajectory rather than description. It looks at where the pull of your life is heading and, just as usefully, at the comfortable old ground you keep returning to when the new direction feels like too much. People tend to book this one at a threshold.

    • Which direction is actually mine, as opposed to inherited
    • What I should stop pouring effort into
    • Why the thing I am good at has stopped satisfying me
Often taken with Natal chart. Begin this reading
  • 04 Monthly transits Ongoing, every month

Transits are the sky in motion against your own chart, which makes this the reading about the present tense. It arrives every month, written for the weeks ahead, and it is the only offering here that is ongoing rather than a single piece of work. It can stand on its own, and it deepens considerably once there is a natal reading underneath it.

    • Why this particular stretch feels the way it does
    • What is worth starting this month, and what is worth postponing
    • Where the pressure is coming from, in plain terms
Often taken with Synastry, Composite. Begin this reading
  • 05 Synastry Two charts

Synastry compares two charts to describe the dynamic running between them: what each person activates in the other, which themes keep recurring, and where the genuine compatibility sits as distinct from the chemistry. It is read for romantic pairs and equally for parent and child, which is often the more clarifying of the two.

    • Why we keep having the same argument in different costumes
    • What each of us is actually asking for
    • Where we fit easily, and where it will always take work
Often taken with Composite. Begin this reading
  • 06 Composite Two charts

Where synastry looks at two people, a composite chart treats the relationship as a third thing with a character of its own: how it operates, what it is good at, where it is fragile, and how likely it is to hold over the long term. Sky recommends taking it together with synastry, because the two answer genuinely different questions.

    • What is this relationship, as its own thing
    • What it is strong at, and where it is structurally fragile
    • Whether it is built for the long term
Often taken with Synastry. Begin this reading
